SSBB Tournament Standing
Here are the results of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. Yaaay.
So as you can see, there were only eight people, which I would like to ask about here: [Tournament Turnout Suggestion Thead] In the mean time, Matt and Ross are the only players on the roster who weren't part of JVAC, I think. I\'m pretty sure Jimmo is in the club... Anyways, so it was three stock, eight minute time (though nobody ever timed out so it doesn't matter), neutral stage random with the ability to counterpick/agree on a stage. Matt vs. Lance 1 was disputed once due to chain grabbing, where-in Matt agreed to have a rematch without utilizing a chain grabbing strategy. Most of the matches went 2 - 0, though they were best of three, except the final which was best of five. Here are some things I can remember.
Characters:
Matt - Dedede, R.O.B. (after dispute)
Santi - Pikachu
Alex - Ice Climbers, Wolf
Lance - R.O.B.
Nick - Ganondorf
Jimmo - Lucas
Ross - Ike
Nat - Pit
All in all, it was fun despite the lack of people. There were photos taken as well as some footage, so that'll be showing up... eventually. Not my department. Feel free to discuss the tournament for those of you who participated, or just want to comment on how it played out.
Ah, I think I should explain the roster here, in case people don't know. This is what's known as a "Double Elimination" roster. Everyone can lose twice. If you win your first match, you go to Winner's bracket (the right side), and if you lose, you go to Loser's (left side). If you lose in Winner's, you go to the corresponding letter in the Loser's bracket. So if you lose at A in Winner's, you go to A in Loser's. If you lose while in loser's bracket, it means you're eliminated. The player who wins Loser's fights the winner of Winner's bracket for the final. If the loser wins, they have to win again (it essentially sends the winner to losers, so they both will have lost once). This bracket type ensures a clear understanding of the podium:
Standings:
1: Matt
2: Lance
3: Jimmo
Since Jimmo lost to Lance, and Lance went to the finals, that means Jimmo was third place. Below that, it\'s up to interpretation, but we decided it thusly:
4: Santi
5: Nathalie
6: Ross
7: Alex
8: Nick
Nick vs. Alex was a consolation match for 7th, and Nat went to Winner's where as Ross stayed in Loser's, so we gave her 5th. That probably should have been another consolation match, but I asked Ross and he seemed too engrossed in MW2 to want to participate.
So that's that~ Hope everyone had fun!

Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
Mind saying what each person placed? The chart confuses me. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and I'm glad that I got to play a lot even though I lost in the first round. ...Though I expected that since I faced the one person that always beats me lol. I liked how I got to have a second chance. The more battles the better. I really hope we all get to do another Brawl thingy again soon.
Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
Yea I updated it with more information, explaining the bracket and showing the placement. Sorry~
Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
Its cool. Oh and my favorite moment was when Popo was sent flying and Nana smashed my enemy and KO'd him before I died. That was awesome. Second favorite would be my confusion when ROB and Wolf hit each other at the same time. I had a "...did I die or did he?" moment.
Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
We should have made a rule to not chain grab. I can recall being in a pro tournament back in AX, and they booted a guy for using Fox's chain grab as "strategy".
Or if chain grabbing is allowed, I just have to train harder then...

Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
Train harder? Dude I think you are good enough. If you get any better I'll never be able to beat you lol.
Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
I counted on this tournament being more in-house than what happened, and we just happened to get a player who plays a lot of Brawl. So my bad for the lack of foresight in not setting any rules.
Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
so wait there was no tournament ruling based on chain grabs, and banned characters -.- glad i didnt go
Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
well the offical smashboard rules are simple, if you chain grab over 200% its instant forfeit
no ban character so anyone goes
which is why at evo there was a lot of MK v MK

Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
Either way, there won't be any waiting until three days before the tournament and then being like "Hm what map should we use."
We're going to do that... in like fifteen minutes when I post the new tournament thread.

Re: SSBB Tournament Standing
don't think they ever limited that cape glitch, because there is a rule for if you try to just waste time and get default win, they can DQ you for that
