JVAC Podcast

I assume the primary topics will usually be Anime/Gaming related?

Yea that's what I was saying by "run the gamut", haha. Which I realize now I put as "gambit"... for some reason. Anyways yes, mostly gaming or anime, but since the conversations should more or less develop themselves following the main topic, it'd not be uncommon to go from something like BlazBlue to anime.

I'm in; and I know some good mic' stuff from having to make songs.
Maybe have a small group or a spot thats always open for rotating people etc?

Oh wow if you guys actually do this then we'll see a return of JVAC's Podcast that we had unofficially dubbed the Vacuum at one point in 2007 lol. Tried to do it over Skype but it got a bit ridiculous and no one cared after awhile. I'd like to see how this turns out as it's much less people put in at once since the then president tried to do it with like 9 people and everyone always got distracted.

Yea nine is far too many people. Very inclusive, but... also ridiculous. Well-intentioned. I've found four to be a winning number to provide a nice variety of consenting and dissenting opoinions. You can check the five episodes we have up here: ABXY Games, Gaming and the Gamer

Feel free to provide comments here, but be constructive and cautious because I have since then made some improvements to the formula that aren't exibited in these episodes. Also, you might want to skip the first two cause they're pretty bad.

I have some recording experience and could lend a hand hosting or recording. I have a small mixer and a decent mic too.

That'd be wonderfully beneficial if we can actually do this in one room, which I'd like to do. Until then, we can use the editing stuff if you have anything for that, to get rid of certain things or if we go over our projected time.

Yeah I can help out but i don't have a decent laptop anymore. I just blew all my cash on my gaming pc. If someone can provide a decent laptop I can provide my mixer and mic. If it's a mac we can just use garageband I suppose. that would be good enough.

I'm no pro when it comes to recording, but I can get some decent vocals down and master it afterwards.

When will this be going down?

Once we get a cast and a theme. What I'm using now is a place known as TalkShoe. You just connect with a mic or call with your phone and it'll record it. Then you can download it, edit it, and re-upload it.

i has a decent lap top so theres that, and tod I don't see a problem with your house? Maybe PCC meeting I spose, though that brings up the question of were on campus.
what are the thoughts on one spot thats always 'sorta" open for peeps?
theme I was under the impression of games in general? Maybe stratigy etc? Dunno.

I want to keep it games, but in the interest of using the JVAC name and members, I figure we can throw in anime stuff too. If the anime stuff isn't cutting it, or vice versa, we'll change the theme accordingly.

And as for that, if we can get the hardware necessary to do it all in one room, then yea let's do that. My house would be fine, I don't think we'd have much success doing it anywhere else other than a house.

It's really best to be isolated when recording - no matter what it is. I think it would be too difficult to find a quiet, isolated place at school.

I'd like to keep it games too - or at least mainly games. I don't really know enough about what's going on in the anime and manga world right now.

Why don't we talk about this next Thurs at the JVAC meeting and sketch out a script and set a meeting time.

It's a podcast, we don't need a script. And yea, that sounds like a good idea. But in the mean time, I'll throw up a poll regarding the theme, because regardless of whether or not I want to do mainly gaming (which I do), if we use the JVAC name it should be dedicated to the club's topics, unless voted otherwise.

Well if it's more about our club than just our club's topics, then yea we'd plug our own evnts and such.

I like the idea that it focuses on the club. It would be a cool way to get info out there.This wouldn't preclude us from talking about games too.

Discussed it maybe two sepreate ones could work? A group that works on a JVAC podcast and another group thats works on the Gaming podcast? We certainly have enough people to do that.

Yea, like one would be the JVAC Anime-cast and the other would be the JVAC Game-cast. It's a bit more management, but at least that way we can just have one of each instead of upsetting some people half the time.

maybe you as leader for the gaming one and someone as leader for the Jvac one? As far as managment and orgnization.

Well the Regular Events is off limits for topic posting so I'm going to put the scheduling topic into club discussion.

better that way if you think about it; makes it so there can be some sort of critisim on changes in how its run or anything like that.
